2021 College Football
Playoff Semifinal at the
Rose Bowl Game
In 2021, the College Football Playoff Rose Bowl Games’ tradition was tested in a way the game had never faced before. Due to COVID-19 lockdowns in California, the game moved to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas—one of the few places where it could be played with fans in attendance. This was a historic first, since the Rose Bowl Game is contractually and culturally tied to Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Stadium. Visually, the artwork leans into that uncertainty: sketch-driven and intentionally unfinished in places, echoing how the game’s details and logistics were still coming together in real time. The final look captures a rare chapter in college football history—where change reshaped a century-old tradition.
